Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 9 September 2026
These terms explain what to expect when you book The Wedding Rogue for your wedding or event, and set out the responsibilities of both sides.
01Booking and acceptance
A booking is only confirmed once the booking details have been agreed, the required deposit has been paid, and any booking agreement or contract required by the Service Provider has been accepted.
Enquiries, quotes and provisional discussions do not reserve a date unless this has been specifically confirmed in writing.
02Deposit
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking date. The deposit is applied toward the total agreed fee for your event.
Once a booking is confirmed, your date is reserved and other enquiries or work may be declined for that date. This is why the deposit is normally non-refundable.
03Balance payment
The remaining balance must be paid by the date agreed when the booking is made.
If the balance is not paid by the agreed deadline, the booking may be cancelled. Where cancellation results from non-payment, the deposit will remain non-refundable.
04Fees
The total fee, performance duration and services included will be agreed before your booking is confirmed.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, the agreed quote will include applicable travel costs and any other costs expressly included in the quote.
If you request additional performance time or services after booking, this may result in an additional fee, subject to agreement.
05Performance times
The agreed performance time is an estimate based on your wedding or event schedule. Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate normal wedding delays.
Where significant delays or changes occur that are outside the Service Provider's control, this may result in:
- A shortened performance
- An altered performance schedule
- Additional charges if the Client asks the Service Provider to remain substantially beyond the agreed period
Any extra time is subject to availability.
06Performance format
The Service Provider retains reasonable artistic discretion over routines, performance content, the order of effects, which guests are approached, and how groups are managed. This discretion is necessary to maintain performance quality, safety and suitability for your event.
While every effort is made to deliver the style of entertainment you've booked, specific routines cannot always be guaranteed.
07Client and venue responsibilities
The Client agrees to:
- Provide accurate venue and event information
- Advise the Service Provider of any significant schedule changes
- Ensure reasonable access to the venue
- Ensure the venue permits the agreed entertainment
- Provide a safe environment in which the performance can take place
The Client is responsible for obtaining any permissions required from the venue.
08Suitable performance conditions
Close-up magic requires a reasonably safe and practical environment. The Service Provider may alter, pause or stop the performance if conditions become unsafe, excessively disruptive or otherwise unsuitable.
This might include, for example, aggressive or abusive behaviour, dangerous overcrowding, severe intoxication, or unsafe venue conditions.
09Guest behaviour
The Service Provider will always aim to treat guests respectfully, and will not knowingly pressure any guest who doesn't wish to take part.
The Service Provider reserves the right to stop interacting with a guest, or to leave the performance area, if subjected to threatening, abusive or unsafe behaviour.
10Pickpocket-style entertainment and personal belongings
The Wedding Rogue's performance may include theatrical pickpocket-style entertainment as part of the act.
Any removal of watches or other personal belongings during the performance is carried out solely as part of the entertainment, and items are always intended to be returned to the guest. Participation is handled at the performer's professional discretion, and guests are welcome to let the performer know at any time if they would prefer not to take part.
11Photography and video
Guests and the Client may generally photograph or record the performance for personal use, unless otherwise agreed.
The Service Provider may also capture or use photographs or video from the event for promotional purposes, where appropriate and lawful, unless the Client has objected in writing before the event.
Where consent from a particular individual is required, this should be obtained where necessary.
12Cancellation by the Client
If the Client cancels a confirmed booking, the deposit is non-refundable.
Where substantial further payments have already been made, any refund of amounts paid, or amount retained, will depend on factors such as how close the cancellation is to the event, costs already incurred, work already performed, and the terms specifically agreed for that booking.
13Rescheduling
Requests to move a booking to a different date will be considered subject to availability.
Where possible, the deposit may be transferred to the new date by agreement. If the Service Provider is unavailable for the requested replacement date, the request may be treated as a cancellation by the Client.
14Cancellation by the Service Provider
If Alex Welsh is unable to perform due to serious illness, emergency or another unavoidable circumstance, reasonable efforts will be made to notify the Client promptly, and to either:
- Offer a suitable alternative performer, where appropriate and accepted by the Client, or
- Refund amounts paid for services that cannot be provided
A suitable replacement performer cannot always be guaranteed.
15Force majeure
Neither party will be responsible for failure or delay caused by circumstances genuinely outside their reasonable control, such as extreme weather, serious transport disruption, government restrictions, venue closure, major emergencies, strikes or natural disasters.
In these circumstances, both parties will make reasonable efforts to find a fair solution, including rescheduling where practical.
16Travel
The Wedding Rogue performs at venues across the UK, and elsewhere where specifically agreed.
Any travel or accommodation charges not already included in the quote will be clearly agreed before the booking is confirmed.
17Insurance
The Service Provider maintains appropriate public liability insurance where required, and can provide evidence of this to a venue upon reasonable request.
18Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Otherwise, to the extent permitted by law, liability is limited to losses that are a reasonably foreseeable result of a breach of the agreement between the Client and the Service Provider.
19Personal belongings
Guests remain responsible for their own belongings during the event.
Where an item is temporarily handled as part of the performance, as described above, the Service Provider will take reasonable care of that item.
20Complaints
Any concerns should be raised as soon as reasonably possible, so the Service Provider has a fair opportunity to resolve them.
After the event, complaints should be sent to alex@freestylemagician.com.
21Data protection
Personal information provided in connection with a booking is handled in accordance with The Wedding Rogue's Privacy Policy.
22Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the booking. Nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory consumer rights the Client may have.
23Consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects the Client's statutory rights as a consumer.
24Entire agreement
The booking confirmation, the agreed quote, any signed booking agreement, and these Terms together form the entire agreement between the Client and the Service Provider.
Any agreed variation to a booking should be confirmed in writing.
25Severability
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply in full.
26Electronic communications and signatures
Agreements, confirmations and signatures completed electronically may be accepted as valid between the Client and the Service Provider.
